Yakisugi Knife Board, Oak

Fine knives should not be stored in a cutlery drawer or on a magnetic bar, as magnetisation complicates the sharpening process. We recommend this knife board, specifically designed for Japanese Hocho knives, where up to eight Japanese knives can find their stylish place. The slanted strips with a stabilised Yakisugi surface keep your high-quality Japanese knives readily accessible. The substantial base and the board made of solid oiled oak provide the necessary stability. Designed for a maximum blade length of 280 mm and 4 mm blade thickness. Outer dimensions approx. 255 x 100 x 310 mm.
Yakisugi is sometimes also referred to as »Shou Sugi Ban« in Western countries.
Yakisugi is a traditional Japanese method of wood preservation. Through the charring process, it acquires its distinctive deep-black soot layer.
The knife board is manufactured in Germany according to our quality criteria. The soot layer is stabilised, sealed, and thus securely fixed.
