Pine tar, also known as pine wood tar, is a traditional, natural wood preservative for exterior applications and long-lasting outdoor wood protection.
It penetrates deeply into the wood and provides reliable protection against moisture, UV radiation, weathering, rot and insect attack, while enhancing the natural grain and developing a distinctive, warm patina over time. Pine tar is widely used as a traditional wood finish for fences, façades, shingles, garden timber, outdoor structures and wooden boats.
Pine tar at a glance
Furutjära®
Pine Tar
Pine tar with a deep black colour.
The classic, highly viscous pine tar offering solid basic protection against UV radiation and weathering. Due to its thicker consistency, penetration into the wood is more limited, making it particularly suitable for larger surfaces such as fences, façades or roofs.
Dalbränd Tjära®
Fine Pine Tar
Pine tar with a black colour.
Finer and moderately less viscous than classic Furutjära tar. This allows better penetration into the wood, making it well suited for deeper protection and more even application.
Fintjära®
Finest Pine Tar
Pine tar with a dark brown colour.
The finest and most deeply penetrating variant. Thinner in consistency than the other tars, it is especially recommended for smaller components such as doors, window frames or detailed woodwork, and wherever maximum penetration into the wood is desired.
