EXPERT KNOWLEDGE POWER TOOLS AND ACCESSORIES

Electrically powered tools, whether hand-held devices or stationary machines, have become an integral part of the trade. They not only save time and energy, but also offer greater precision and quality when used correctly, which is almost impossible to achieve with traditional hand tools.
In the age of industrialisation, Germany was a pioneer and trailblazer in the field of electrically powered tools. The first electric drills and electrically powered chainsaws were developed as early as the end of the 18th century. Companies such as Bosch, Festool and Mafell are still highly innovative manufacturers of power tools today.
Today's power tools, with mains or cordless battery drive, are modern machines that can offer the user efficient work, precise results and greater work safety. However, it is not only the high quality of workmanship of the machine itself that is important, but also the right accessories, which ultimately determine the effectiveness, efficiency and precision of the machine or system.
Many customer-orientated manufacturers work closely with end users in order to be able to address the specific needs of the various trades and areas of application during development.
In DIY stores, you will find power tools from Einhell, Metabo, Makita and many more. However, two German companies have made a name for themselves as absolute specialists in woodworking. Festool and Mafell have been manufacturing power tools for woodworking trades for over 100 years and are extremely popular with both professionals and ambitious DIY enthusiasts.
What characterises a good power tool? Which drive should I choose, battery or mains cable? Which accessories or consumables do I need? What materials can I process? There are many questions that cannot be answered in general terms.
The general rule is: whether hand tools or power tools, whether in a professional or private environment, the use of a tool should give pleasure through optimum results. Inaccurate cuts, drill holes, etc. not only damage the workpiece or take several times as long, but adequate work safety and reliable health protection are only guaranteed with high-quality tools. The optional accessories available for quality tools offer a wide range of possible applications and thus extend the range of uses. Quality in power tools also means quality in work results, greater efficiency and better health protection. A wide range of technical data such as performance, maximum cutting depth, noise and vibration values, suction power, weight and much more are also quality criteria in which high-quality power tools score highly.

Battery or mains cable? One obvious disadvantage is the often annoying cable that gets in the way or the search for a power socket. However, corded power tools offer advantages when it comes to performance, power and endurance.
Thanks to new technologies, battery-powered machines are becoming increasingly popular for many applications. Modern 18V batteries usually allow sufficient drilling, screwing or cutting power per battery charge. Modern quick chargers ensure faster recharging if the battery charge is not sufficient. The charging capacity of a battery is given in Ah (ampere hours). This indicates the amount of current available to the user until the battery is discharged. The higher the electrical charge, the higher the battery weight and price. When drilling in wood with small diameters, simple repairs etc. with a cordless screwdriver, for example, a 3 Ah battery is sufficient. Cordless plunge-cut saws that process material thicknesses of more than 50 mm have a significantly higher cutting performance with a 5 Ah battery. As the machine rests on the material, the weight of the batteries is not so tiring for the hand. When using angle grinders with a cordless drive, e.g. for power carving, a long battery life is desirable, but the power tool is operated freehand and often from the wrist, which is why a lighter battery should be used here.
If you have several cordless machines, you can reduce acquisition costs by using batteries and chargers for several power tools (also available without battery/charger). However, corded machines are the only sensible choice for particularly demanding applications, e.g. circular carpentry saws with large cutting depths of up to 185 mm.
In addition to all the technical details that define the quality of power tools, service, which can significantly increase the service life of a tool, should not be overlooked. The brands we offer provide many free services, a spare parts guarantee and much more.
