DICTUM provides you with all the important materials and tools for making your own knife blade. The first step is, of course, choosing the right steel (e.g. Damasteel-Damascus steel, Japanese Suminagashi, Damascus steel, three-layer steel, etc.).
We offer steel data sheets for all steels, which provide information on the alloy components, the hardening and tempering temperature, the quenching agents (oil hardener, water hardener, air hardener), mechanical properties, the pre-treatment (soft annealed, stress-relief annealed) and, if necessary, a possible low temperature treatment and the etching process (light and dark drawing) as well as the corresponding acids to be used.
We offer knife belt grinders and angle grinders with cutting discs and specially hardened files or special files (e.g. fluting files, mill saw files) for finishing the rough shape of the blade. We also have a wide range of Eisenblätter grinding and polishing discs for mirror polishing knife blades. As an additional service, we can provide heat treatment of the blade (hardening and tempering) on request and then issue a hardness test certificate.
