The process begins with selecting the right steel (e.g. Damasteel Damascus steel, Japanese Suminagashi, Damascus steel, triple-layered steel, etc.).
We provide detailed data sheets for all steels, including information on alloy composition, hardening and tempering temperatures, quenching media (oil-, water- or air-hardening), mechanical properties, pre-treatment (annealed, stress-relieved), and, where applicable, cryogenic treatment and etching processes (light and dark contrast), as well as the appropriate acids to use.
For shaping the blade profile, we offer knife belt grinders as well as angle grinders with cutting discs, along with specially hardened files and specialist files (e.g. pillar files, saw files).
We also stock a wide range of abrasive and polishing wheels from Eisenblätter for achieving a high-gloss finish on knife blades.
