EXPERT KNOWLEDGE COMPACT SAWS / MINI SAWS
First of all: you will not find any miniature power tools here, such as mini circular saws, mini chainsaws, mini Saws with rechargeable battery or similar, but only high-quality hand tools.
Which mini saw to buy?

The term "mini saw" covers countless saw shapes for different tasks. In this area, we offer Saws with a blade length of 110 mm to 180 mm. Their main advantages are their compact size and low weight. Contrary to what their name suggests, they are not only suitable for small woodworking jobs, but often also fulfil special tasks. To make it easier for you to choose the right mini saw, we have categorised the tools according to type and application.
- Fixed mini saws are small-format hand saws and are similar in design to full-size saws. Due to their smaller size, they are better suited for fine work, for example in model making and in tight spaces. Slightly larger Saws, which we call Compact Saws, are available in three versions: Dozuki, Kataba and Ryoba. These models are ideal for the Production of prong joints or for mobile use in the toolbox.
- Go tofolding saws are foldable, have a short saw blade and a correspondingly small handle. They are lighter and more compact than their bigger sisters and therefore easier to transport. Mini folding saws are often used for outdoor activities, such as hiking, trekking or for bushcraft and survival. There are also models that are suitable for woodworking.
- Saws with a cutter are similar in design to a cutter knife. However, a thin saw blade is inserted in place of the blade and can be pushed out like a cutter blade when required. These mini Saws are ideal for DIY enthusiasts and craftsmen who are looking for an "always-on saw" for their tool bag.
Depending on the intended use, the following categories of mini Saws can be used as a decision-making aid:
- What material is being sawn? Most mini saws are suitable for cutting wood and metal. Most hand saws for wood are also suitable for many plastics. If you want to process composite material or fibre-reinforced plastics, use a mini saw for metal.
- Minis for construction sites and assembly. Mini folding saws or cutter saws are very practical for always having a saw with you for all eventualities during assembly, on the construction site or for repairs. They take up little space in the toolbox and their saw blades are optimally protected by the handles during transport.
- Mini saws for wood joints. Mini Japanese saws are ideal for model making and precise woodwork, for example making Japanese kumiko or doll's furniture. In terms of precision, they are in no way inferior to a full-size Ryoba, Kataba or Dozuki. On the contrary, some miniature Japanese saws are among the finest Japanese saws available.
- Dowel saws, also known as "mini kugihiki", are - as the name suggests - suitable for cutting off protruding wooden dowels. Their saw blades are thin and flexible so that they can lie flush on the surface when cutting. Their saw teeth are usually not set to avoid scratching the surface. They are also suitable for very fine saw cuts with a shallow Cutting depth.
