Horn

Since time immemorial, horn has been one of the most versatile, beautiful and natural materials. It is pleasant to the touch, regulates moisture, contains no allergenic substances and is therefore ideal for products that come into contact with human skin, such as combs, jewellery, spoons, knife handles, etc. The tasteless material is not perceived as a foreign body; even the most sensitive foods, such as caviar, can be enjoyed with their unadulterated flavour using a horn spoon. Horn is harder and denser than most types of wood. Although it also has a fibre structure, it is largely homogeneous when worked and can be easily turned or carved in great detail. Horn can become brittle if it dries out; shellac treatment or regular oiling offers protection.
