Kindling Cracker
EXPERT KNOWLEDGE KINDLING CRACKER
Why buy a Kindling Cracker?
Safe splitting:The original Kindling Cracker was originally introduced by thirteen-year-old Ayla Hutchinson as part of a school project in New Zealand. It is now produced with the support of her family and several partners and sold worldwide. It enables safe splitting even for young adults.
Durability:The log splitter is made from solid cast iron in an Australian foundry. You, your children and grandchildren will enjoy it for a long time if it is used and handled correctly.
How is the Kindling Cracker used correctly?
It is the ideal tool if you want to split firewood for your fireplace, pizza oven, barbecue or your sauna and smokehouse yourself. The Kindling Cracker is ideal for splitting logs and round wood up to approx. 15 cm or 20 cm in diameter. In contrast to splitting with an axe or hatchet, where you have to hit the centre of the free-standing log with the splitting tool, with the Kindling Cracker the log is simply placed on the upright cutting edge and struck downwards using a striking tool (a hammer or log is sufficient). Screw the tool to the base or chopping block for a secure stand. Screw holes are provided in the base for this purpose.
Is the Kindling Cracker safe?
The Kindling Cracker is the safest method for manually splitting firewood. It minimises the risk of injury when splitting wood and you always have full control. You can even use it to safely split small kindling for the fire. The cast ring on the top not only prevents unintentional contact with the cutting edge, but also prevents the logs from tipping over and holds the split pieces firmly in place so that nothing flies around uncontrollably. For even more safety, use a solid hammer with which you can strike accurately (e.g. a sledgehammer or mallet) and wear safety goggles and work gloves when splitting wood.
Do I need to sharpen the Kindling Cracker?
As with all splitting tools, a sharp cutting edge makes it easier for the splitting wedges to penetrate the wood. You can resharpen the cutting edge by hand, e.g. with a Diamond sharpener. Maintenance is simple. Brush the log splitter thoroughly after use. If you want it to look like new again after a few years, give it a new coat of paint.
What distinguishes the "King" from the "Original" cracker?
The King is the larger version of the Kindling Cracker. It is more massive and can split pieces of wood up to approx. 20 cm in diameter (original up to ø 15 cm). The casting is also decorated with Celtic ornaments.
