Frost River is an American manufacturer of high-quality and robust luggage based in Duluth, Minnesota. The company was founded in 2001 by Steve Emerson, who had previously been head designer at Duluth Pack for more than twenty years. Frost River quickly gained a reputation as one of the best suppliers of American-made luggage on the market. After seven years, the company had to close its doors in September 2008 due to the economic downturn. A year later, Frost River was revived under the leadership of Benson and Rinerson and continued its tradition of offering high-quality, durable, American-made luggage. The company offers a wide range of products including backpacks, bags, tote bags, suitcases and accessories for camping, hiking and other outdoor activities - all made in the Duluth factory. Despite the wide range of products, the company remains true to its roots and continues to focus on producing rugged, durable, American-made products. Frost River uses only the finest raw materials, including solid brass hardware, sturdy waxed cotton fabric from an East Coast fabric mill and premium leather from the Red Wing Shoes' owned tannery »S. B. Foot«. Frost River places great emphasis on sustainability and environmental protection and strives to use environmentally friendly materials and production processes. The company is also committed to supporting local artisans and craftspeople in Minnesota and the surrounding area.
