The Hippekniep (Hippe = goat; Kniep = fold in) is a versatile, robust pocket knife. In the past it was used as a working knife in agriculture. Stable workmanship and selected handle woods give these slip joint knives their special charm. The blade is made of easy-to-sharpen, non-rustproof carbon steel C75, hardness 57 HRC.

Das Unternehmen Otter wurde um 1840 in einem kleinen Kotten - einer traditionellen wasserbetriebenen Schleiferei - an der Königsmühle in Solingen gegründet. Namensgebend waren die damals dort an den Ufern lebenden Fisch-Otter. Auch heute noch werden die Taschen- und feststehenden Messer in sorgfältiger Handarbeit in Solingen gefertigt. Das Sortiment umfasst Messer für Freizeit, Küche, Garten und die Jagd, die unter den Markennamen Otter, Mercator und Rotwild vertrieben werden.
