Horn

Since time immemorial, horn has been one of the most versatile and most beautiful natural materials. Unlike synthetic material, horn feels very comfortable, it is warm and moisture regulating. Being free of allergenic substances, horn is ideal for products getting in contact with the human skin, for example combs, jewellery, spoons, knife handles etc. Horn is completely tasteless and is not recognized as a foreign body, so even the most sensitive groceries, e. g. caviar, can be enjoyed in their pure and authentic aroma. Horn is harder and denser than most wood types. Although it also has a fibre structure, it stays largely homogeneous during processing and can easily be turned or carved with great detail. Horn can become brittle when dried out; shellac treatment or regular oiling offers protection.
