Description
Titanium as the carrier material, laminated with Magnacut steel in a positive-locking bond, delivers maximum cutting performance and surface quality. Hardness 62–63 HRC.
- It dampens vibration thanks to 4 mm iron thickness and the elastic properties of titanium – for fine shavings and smooth surfaces
- High edge retention and long-lasting sharpness
- The fine grit structure of Magnacut steel enables precise cutting and excellent sharpenability
- Perfectly flat polished backs and razor-sharp edges straight from the factory (without micro bevel)
The standard smoothing plane is capable of taking the finest shavings even on woods with difficult grain direction.
DICTUM® Bench Planes
The Bedrock design of these planes allows the mouth to be adjusted without removing the cap iron and blade. The rear handle with its width of 26 mm offers a comfortable grip even for large hands. Lateral blade adjustment with side lever. Cutting angle 45°. Supplied with a plane pouch made of a jute-cotton blend with drawstring closure.
DICTUM® Planes
We have developed our DICTUM plane series based on our Herdim planes. We have been making these planes for decades for our violin makers, who require the utmost precision and perfect workmanship. The solid, stress-relieved plane bodies made from cast steel* with precisely ground soles aligned at right angles to the sides, together with the minimum 3 mm thick blades made from SK4 steel (61 HRC) signify top quality. The planes are also available with a Japanese blade made of Blue Paper Steel (63 HRC) or O2 Waterjet (62 HRC). The blade adjuster allows for precise adjustments and the ergonomically shaped handles developed through tests as well as the polished cap irons provide a good grip. Handles made of walnut wood.
