Even though the principles of permaculture were originally conceived and tested for large areas, they can also be applied, somewhat modified, to small gardens in the city or in the countryside. The author describes in detail and in a way that is easily transferable to other small gardens his experiences with the re-cultivation of a terraced house garden and his incredible harvest successes of vegetables and fruit. As an »urban gardener«, Joseph Chauffrey has been optimising the cultivation of fruit and vegetables on small inner-city plots for several years, based on the principles of permaculture.
