Description
With this set, you are perfectly equipped to smooth large surfaces cleanly and to refine edges and inside corners with precision. Delivery includes a drawstring plane pouch made of a jute–cotton blend.
Tip: The 60 mm blade of the No. 4½ is compatible with the Fore Plane No. 6 and the Jointer Plane No. 7. This allows plane blades made of different steels – such as HSS Cryo or Japanese blades – to be exchanged easily between these plane types.

Rabbet Block Plane (No. 703335)

Smoothing Plane No. 4½ (No. 703409)
- The 60 mm wide blade enables quick smoothing of large surfaces. The 3 mm thick blade and the plane’s 2.6 kg mass help dampen vibration and ensure exceptionally smooth performance, even on difficult or highly figured grain.
Rabbet Block Plane (No. 703335)
- For working rabbets and shoulders and for refining tenons. Due to the low angle of inclination (12°) even suitable for planing end grain.
DICTUM® Planes
We have developed our DICTUM plane series based on our Herdim planes. We have been making these planes for decades for our violin makers, who require the utmost precision and perfect workmanship. The solid plane bodies made from cast steel* with precisely ground soles aligned at right angles to the sides, together with the minimum 3 mm thick blades made from SK4 steel (61 HRC) signify top quality. The planes are also available with a Japanese blade made of Blue Paper Steel (63 HRC) or HSS Cryo (64 HRC). The blade adjuster allows for precise adjustments and the ergonomically shaped handles developed through tests as well as the polished cap irons provide a good grip. Handles of native red beechwood.
