Bittner Hüte
Since 1862, the name Bittner has stood for masterful hat-making tradition in the heart of the Salzkammergut, Austria. Founded by Franz Bittner, who journeyed from Schleswig-Holstein in Germany via Merano in northern Italy to Bad Ischl, the family business quickly gained a reputation among a hunting-oriented clientele. Even Emperor Franz Joseph I commissioned his bespoke hunting hats from Bittner – a sign of the highest esteem for craftsmanship and quality. To this day, handcrafted hats are made in Bad Ischl, accompanying hunters both at formal shoots and in the field. Crafted from exquisite natural materials such as hair or wool felt, they combine protection and functionality with a clear, tradition-conscious design language. Naturally water-repellent, breathable and dimensionally stable, these hats prove to be a reliable part of one’s equipment in every season – whether in rain, wind or sunshine. Under the direction of hatmaker Katharina Bittner in the sixth generation, the house continues its more than 160-year history. Guided by a keen sense of hunting tradition and distinctive design, these hats unite functional reliability with a refined appearance for social occasions.
