Description
Saddle or bridle leather is the term used to describe tanned, very tensile equestrian leather from England. The leather is taken from the highest-quality piece – the back of the cattle hide – and is provided with a lot of fat and wax in the tanning process for special weather resistance. The surface is finely smoothed for an elegant look. A specific characteristic is the light wax layer on the smooth surface.
A special feature that allows the belt to pass very smoothly through the loops and ensures a very attractive appearance, even after many years of wear, is the fact that the belt edges are ground to a round shape in several steps, stained and polished with hard wax several times. Loaned from equestrian sports, the edges of this single-layered belt are adorned with a creaser. This is made with a wooden creaser or a heated iron tool, which is used to rub a fine ridge along the edge, giving the belts a more casual look.
The deep shade of this aniline-coloured belt makes it easy to match to a shoe. The brown tone is so dark that it can be worn with both brown and black shoes.
