Description

The »Cerro Torre« trousers were developed especially for mountain hunting in collaboration with Heinz Bauer Manufakt. They are made of the best, breathable loden fabric (580 g/m), which is so carefully milled that the trousers are almost waterproof and windproof. Once you have discovered the properties of loden, you will not want to do without this fantastic material. Weather- and abrasion-resistant, water- and dirt-repellent, thermo-regulating, breathable, robust and durable and absolutely noiseless, these loden trousers are perfect for mountain hunting. They are equipped with two generously sized front pockets, two additional zipped leg pockets, two zipped back pockets and an approximately 18 cm deep knife pocket on the right side. The robust YKK zips with high-quality chain have a spring clip that prevents the zip from rattling when stalking. For increased comfort and ventilation on long marches or steep climbs, the jacket has zippered side vents and a mesh lining. The raised rear waistband, the ergonomically pre-shaped knee area and the integrated shirt stopper guarantee a perfect fit. Inserts at the hem prevent moisture or snow from getting in. The leg width is designed so that the trousers can also be worn comfortably and practically over boots. The seat area is reinforced with tearproof, waterproof membrane-laminated kangaroo leather for extra protection when sitting on a raised hide. Kangaroo leather is almost twice as strong as cowhide and absorbs only half as much water, making it ideal for heavy-duty use. But kangaroo leather impresses not only in terms of function, it is also ideal for the demanding mountain hunt in terms of weight – it is as sturdy as cowhide, but significantly thinner and lighter. Kangaroo leather retains its strength where other types of leather require heavy scraping and splitting, which significantly reduces their physical performance. The unique properties of kangaroo leather are optimised through the tanning process, resulting in a strong, lightweight and natural high-performance material. Kangaroos are not bred in Australia, but hunted due to their high numbers and the decreasing number of their predators.
