Description
With this knife kit, you can create your own hunting and outdoor knife that is not only functional, but also aesthetically pleasing. The blade features a swedge, a ground but not sharpened top edge, which adds to the impressive design. The blade is largely pre-finished, providing a solid base for your custom knife project. The handle material consists of genuine, thick-walled, sterilised water buffalo bone which serves as a bolster, and a leadwood block. This exceptionally hard African wood species is notable for its dark colour and is among the heaviest woods in the world. Leadwood polishes exceptionally well, making it ideal for high-quality knife handles. Epoxy adhesive (e.g. No. 450379) is recommended for glueing the handle materials.
The included »Crossdraw« leather sheath, made of natural buffalo leather, is specially designed for the cross-draw carry method, where the knife is worn diagonally on the belt. This sheath is the perfect complement to your custom-built knife. The natural buffalo leather not only gives the sheath a rustic and authentic look, but also offers a pleasant, soft and warm feel. Moreover, the leather allows it to be individually customised. You can stamp it, work on the edges, or dye it to give the sheath a personal touch.
Traditional Damascus Blades and Blanks
These beautifully crafted blades made of 192-layered Damascus steel come from the Indus Valley. For excellent performance, low-alloy carbon steel 1095 and nickel steel 15N20 are fire-welded. The blades are etched and hardened to 60 HRC but not completely sharpened. You just add the handle scales and sharpen the blade. Handmade, so there may be slight dimensional deviations. Not rustproof.
