Mallets
EXPERT KNOWLEDGE KNÜPFEL
Conceptualisation
Mallets, Klüpfel, Knüpfel, Klipfel - all terms refer to the same tool. As mallets are used in sculpture (round version) as well as in furniture making and carpentry (rectangular version), there are probably different names, some of which differ from region to region.
Shape of the knot

The round shape of the mallet is crucial for use in sculpting, as it allows the impact force to be controlled in different directions. The head, which becomes thicker towards the top, enables an ergonomic hand position and precise strokes. As the wrist cannot be bent by 90° in the direction of the stroke, the conical taper of the mallet head takes up the missing 10°-15°. This allows an ergonomic hand position with maximum striking precision. We offer several head diameters from 70 - 115 mm. The different weights can be freely selected depending on the stature of the user or the intended use.
Tapped stems

The most secure Shape of handle attachment for hornbeam knots is the tapered handle. The head is securely attached to the handle between the turned collar on the handle and the wedge on the top.
Stone processing

Special plastic mallets are used in Stone processing. This type of mallet is insensitive to moisture, heat and humidity and has a high Shore Hardness. Mallets are also used in Stone processing.
