Sam Maloof's tried-and-tested oil-wax blend offers a significant advantage over other products: all components are purely natural and suitable even for children's toys.
Mixing ratio: 500 ml linseed oil, 500 ml tung oil, 50 g beeswax
Heat raw linseed oil to 55 °C and add beeswax. Once the beeswax has dissolved, stir in the tung oil. After cooling, rub into the wood using a lot of pressure. Intermediate sanding can be done after two days. Additional coats are applied using the same principle.
Sam Maloof was one of the most renowned furniture craftsmen in the USA. His handcrafted pieces can be found in numerous art and design museums. The distinctive hallmark of his work is the flowing lines created by the meticulous shaping of the entire surface using rasps and sanders. The transitions from the chair legs to the seats of his chairs are made without corners and edges thanks to a wood joint he developed. His furniture is a true delight to touch.
