DICTUM Plus

DICTUM® Lathe PRO 510

Description

A robust lathe offering a wide range of functions for flexible and comfortable operation. Made from solid cast iron and precision-machined, this machine is equally suitable for both beginners and advanced users.

The heavy cast-iron construction with a weight of 62 kg absorbs vibration, ensuring smooth running and precise work.

The spindle is threaded with M33 × 3.5 DIN 800 on both sides, allowing chucks, faceplates, and other accessories to be mounted on the left-hand side of the headstock as well. This allows workpieces of up to 460 mm in diameter, such as plates or bowls to be turned.

The highlight: the tailstock quill, with a travel of 100 mm and integrated scale, is equipped with a thread and locknut to hold drilling tools using #2 MT collets. This design prevents unnecessary reduction of the centre distance and eliminates the need for expensive drill chucks. Optionally, a depth gauge (No. 707789) with scale and depth stop can be mounted on the tailstock.

Bed extensions (available as accessories in various lengths) can be mounted on the lathe bed in three different positions:
  • At the left end of the bed – to extend the machine bed for centre distances of up to 1120 mm.
  • At the right end of the bed – as a lowered outboard turning attachment, increasing the maximum centre height to 230 mm.
  • At 90° to the front of the machine bed, allowing workpieces – for example during bowl turning – to be worked from the rear without remounting.

The control box with on/off switch, stepless speed control via rotary knob, LED speed display from 150 to 3850 rpm, and forward/reverse switch can be conveniently attached anywhere on the machine thanks to its magnetic base.

The powerful brushless DC motor with 1100 W output and triple pulley ensure maximum torque at every speed. The motor is maintenance-free and runs smoothly and quietly.

The practical 24-position indexing head with 15° increments enables precise workpiece positioning, for example for drilling or milling operations.

The headstock cover, with its flat metal surface, allows magnetic base lamps or trays to be quickly attached.

Another useful feature is the inclusion of adjusting screws in the tailstock base, allowing any play between the bedways and tailstock to be fine-tuned if necessary.

The DICTUM lathe combines traditional construction with technical innovations and improvements. We develop and test these lathes in close collaboration with our course instructors and professional woodturners. Customer feedback and the needs of users – from beginners to experts – are all taken into account during the design process.
