DICTUM® Extraction Unit SA 1140

Description

This compact dust extraction unit is particularly suitable for use as a mobile single extraction system. With a footprint of only 0.3 m², the system fits almost anywhere and can be quickly relocated on its four caster wheels. Equipped with a 5-micron filter bag and 80-litre chip collection bag, it is the ideal system for semi-stationary and smaller machines that produce coarse dust, sawdust and shavings. The airflow rate of 1140 m³/h is sufficient to extract from small circular bench saws, milling machines, and surface or thickness planers. For large chip volumes, e.g. on wider planing machines, we recommend systems with larger chip collection bags (Nos. 725036, 725037, 725038). Effective wood dust filtration of 99.9 % through the 5 micron polyester filter bag.

Benefits and features:
  • Sturdy construction made of powder-coated metal components.
  • Precisely balanced steel fan with optimised blade shape ensures a long service life as well as vibration-free and quiet operation.
  • Dust separator effectively separates the finest airborne particles from the extracted material, preventing premature clogging of filter pores.
  • Optimised separation of the air/chip mixture for greater compacting in the chip collection bag (fewer bag changes required).
  • Highly effective filtration of 99.9 % of particles with a size ≥ 5 microns.
  • Chip collection bag is supported by a sturdy base plate and reliably fixed to the separator with an adjustable clamp strap.
  • Four swivel casters for optimal manoeuvrability in the workshop.

The machine is supplied in easy-to-assemble modules (including step-by-step assembly instructions).
Selection criteria for extraction systems:
The smaller the chip bag volume, the smaller the amount of chips produced by the machine should be. Circular saws generate less chip volume than thickness planers. Planers with a 50 cm planing width produce more chip volume than machines with only a 20 cm planing width.
Consider the simultaneity factor. Is the system extracting from only one machine or several machines simultaneously?
Large extraction openings for small dust particles, e.g. at sanding tables, require a greater air volume flow than the precise extraction of chips, e.g. with bandsaws.
The heavier the chips to be extracted, e.g. wet planer shavings, the higher the negative pressure (also known as differential pressure) should be.
The longer the extraction duct, the more bends or distributors present, the higher the negative pressure (also known as differential pressure) should be.
The following rules should be observed for group extraction (several machines connected to one extraction line):
  • The total cross-section of all extraction ports to be used simultaneously should not exceed the cross-section of the fan's suction port.
  • The ducting should be as short and straight as possible, with branches and bends installed as sparingly as possible.
  • Place duct reductions as close to the machine as possible, with smaller diameters always on the machine side.
  • Equip machines and devices to be extracted with shut-off valves when several machines and devices are connected to the extraction system.
  • Avoid hose lines with high friction resistance and high pressure loss. Flexible hoses have a higher pressure loss compared to rigid, smooth-walled pipes.
The above criteria are only guidelines that can contribute to the selection of a sufficiently sized extraction system.

Dust filter: The term micron (μm or micrometre) refers to the mesh or pore size of the filter material. The smaller the micron value, the finer the dust particles removed from the exhaust air.
