Isinglass is a particularly high-quality natural adhesive obtained from the swim bladders of the beluga sturgeon. It consists largely of pure collagen and is valued for its exceptional clarity, high purity and very fine adhesive properties.
Due to strict restrictions on sturgeon fishing, it is considered one of the most precious animal glues.
Isinglass is widely used in restoration, gilding and high-end furniture and instrument making. It forms very clear, almost invisible glue lines and is especially suitable for delicate materials and applications requiring the highest precision. Like all traditional animal glues, isinglass is reversible and can be released again with heat and moisture.
