EXPERT KNOWLEDGE MULTIFUNCTIONAL TABLES
Remark:
The term Multifunctional tables does not only include work tables for woodworking. In many cases, this term is also used to describe tables for board games, table tennis, table football, table football, billiards or air hockey. Our Multifunctional tables have nothing in common with a games table or foosball table. We only stock Multifunctional tables for woodworking.
Multifunctional tables for woodworking
Compared to a traditional workbench or work trestles, these lightweight work tables have many advantages that not only make work easier, but also contribute to efficient and precise working methods. Multifunctional tables are available that are specially designed for mobile use. These versions offer a foldable base and smaller dimensions to facilitate transport and reduce weight.
Fixed and stable MFT bases have also established themselves as a fully-fledged replacement for workbenches. They offer a rigid and stable base for heavy loads and, thanks to their aluminium construction, are light enough to be transported quickly and easily around the workshop or on the construction site.
What characterises a multifunctional table?
The table frame and table top are constructed differently compared to conventional work tables.
The table frame or base frame is often height-adjustable and has a rail system, usually T-slots, around the top and, depending on the model, also in the table legs. These groove guides make it possible to precisely attach a variety of accessories (stops, rails, hold-down devices, etc.) in order to precisely position, clamp or machine workpieces using power tools that run on guide rails.
One of the biggest differences to workbenches is probably the different worktops for multifunctional tables. Depending on the intended use of the Multifunctional tables, these are a wearing part. But why is that the case? Most MFT worktops have a hole pattern with 20 mm centre bores. These are milled exactly at right angles to each other and at exact intervals using CNC machines and very tight tolerances. By inserting bench dogs or other accessories with 20 mm tenons, workpieces and tools (e.g. guide rails for plunge-cut saws) can be positioned precisely. This means that workpieces can be efficiently formatted without having to measure or mark out again. However, to cut through the workpieces with a Plunge-cut saws, it is necessary to set the Cutting depth on the Plunge-cut saws half a millimetre deeper than the workpiece thickness. This causes the table surface to be slightly scored. This is a completely normal process for a multifunctional table that is used as a sawing platform for sizing workpieces. However, if you want to protect your table top, you can place a sacrificial plate between the workpiece and the table top.
What makes the DICTUM Multifunctional tables PRO so special
The DICTUM Multifunctional tables PRO are not simply bolted together from standard aluminium profiles and angles, such as those used in trade fair construction. The MFT PRO has been specially developed for high demands and professional use in the woodworking trade. T-slot guides with tight tolerances and matching accessories as well as specially developed profile connectors for extreme stability and durability can only be found on the DICTUM Multifunctional tables PRO.
Our Multifunctional tables PRO impresses many professionals and ambitious woodworkers at first glance with its robustness. The table design offers high torsional rigidity and ensures safe working even under heavy loads. Aluminium profiles with strong walls are used for this purpose. These are not screwed together directly - as is the case with other workbenches - but are firmly connected using the corner connectors we have developed from solid, welded sheet steel.
Four adjustable feet allow you to compensate for uneven floors and level the MFT Pro precisely. The lower frames of the table frame provide additional stability. They are closed at the top to protect against dust and chips. You can adjust the height of the frames and insert an intermediate shelf or a tool box, for example.
Advantages of a DICTUM Multifunctional tables

Different materials for different requirements
Different hole patterns for different intended uses.
Go to accessories and tools developed for working with MFTs:
External chucking, internal chucking, fixing: Workpieces must not move during processing. Both hands should be on the tool to avoid accidents. In addition, much more precise work results are achieved.
Examples:
Positioning: Not only must workpieces be positioned at the right angle or at an exact distance, guide rails or other accessories must also be positioned precisely for drilling, sawing or milling. Bench dogs, pins, guide rail holders etc. contribute to this. This makes work much easier, especially for series production and repeatable work steps.
Examples:
Guiding: The existing rails on the base frame of a multifunctional table allow the accessories to be moved parallel and at right angles. This means that the multifunction bench hooks for the MFT PRO can also be positioned precisely and easily in order to attach guide rails from all Manufacturers, e.g. for plunge-cut saws.

Conclusion
A multifunctional table is an indispensable tool for tradespeople who value flexibility, precision and mobility. It combines a workbench, clamping table and, if necessary, a drilling or routing table in one device, saves space in the workshop and offers a mobile workstation on the construction site. Its compatibility with tools, clamping devices and accessories makes it a versatile all-rounder that makes everyday work much easier.
