This course, designed exclusively for women and taught by an experienced female cabinetmaker, introduces you to the fundamentals of furniture making through the construction of a wooden stool. You will learn how to use traditional hand tools such as the hand saw, chisel and plane, and gain an understanding of essential woodworking techniques, classic wood joints such as the mortise-and-tenon joint, and fundamental approaches to surface preparation and finishing.
