Tomita Higo Folding Knife

Description

The Tomita Higo embodies the rich tradition of Japanese knife-making, distinguished by its understated yet striking aesthetic. A defining feature is the undulating pattern on the blade, known as the Midare-Ba — an irregular hamon created through differential hardening that gives each knife its own distinct character. The triple-layered blade features a White Paper Steel cutting core with a hammered spine, which not only offers functional advantages but also highlights its handcrafted origin. The iron handle with Tsuchime finish complements the design perfectly, ensuring balanced handling and a secure grip. Comes in kiri wood case. Double bevel, not rustproof, hardness 62 HRC.
Tomita – traditional blacksmithing from Miki, Japan
Tomita is a small, long-established forge in Miki (Hyōgo Prefecture), a region with centuries of tradition in crafting tools and knives. Led by Tomita-san, who continues the craft in its second generation, the workshop produces razors and knives made entirely by hand and rooted in classic Japanese aesthetics. Each piece is defined by functional simplicity, distinctive hamon lines, and the unmistakable signature of the maker.
As Tomita-san now works entirely on his own and, in his later years, produces only a handful of pieces, each knife is available in very limited numbers — a true, unrepeatable expression of traditional Japanese craftsmanship.
