The Kanna’s exceptional smoothness is due to its unusually thick blade, which normally has to be sharpened by hand and carefully fitted to the body. With the Kanetomo plane and its replaceable blade, this demanding work is no longer required. The cutter fits flush into a recess in the back of the heavy, vibration-absorbing blade. The razor-sharp cutter will produce first-class surface finishes even when working difficult materials.
