Course details
You will learn:
- Hollowing out the branch or wooden strips
- Shaping and voicing the labium
- Gluing the two flute halves together
- Forming and shaping the flute body
- Drilling and tuning the finger holes
- Making the block (bird)
The finished flute can then be decorated with pyrographic ornaments. The course concludes with an introduction to the intuitive playing style characteristic of the Native American flute.
Instructor
As an independent master joiner, Ernst Maier runs a small, creative one-man workshop in Upper Austria. For more than 10 years he has focused on building natural wood furniture that reflects the forms of nature. Above all, his works are characterised by the combination of natural wood and classic solid wood techniques.
