Shaper Origin (Basic Course)

Course details

How does the Shaper Origin orient itself on the work surface in real time, and how does the machine compensate for hand movement during freehand routing? What is the working area of the Origin, and how can toolpaths be created directly on the touchscreen?

In this course, we cover all the essential steps for a successful start with the Origin – from preparing and scanning the work surface, uploading finished SVG files, to creating ready-to-cut toolpaths directly on the machine. Setting up a grid with x and y coordinates, selecting and installing the cutter, performing the Z-Touch procedure, using the AutoPass function, finishing passes with offset, choosing inside or outside cut types, and working with Shaper Trace are all part of the fundamentals.

After the introductory section, each participant works with a Shaper Origin to produce a two-part T-box with a bayonet closure. Using various cutters, the Workstation and prepared files containing the toolpaths, the base and lid of the box – including the intricate locking mechanism – are machined from a single piece of solid wood.
Fundamentals of operating the unique, hand-guided CNC router.
