Scroll Saw Basic Course

Course details

  • Advantages and disadvantages of the individual machines
  • Optimal machine settings
  • Saw blade types and selection according to material type and thickness
  • Creating 2D and 3D objects with material thicknesses of up to 150 mm
  • Maintenance work and servicing
  • General safety instructions
We mostly associate the term scroll saw with woodwork, as in puzzles, wooden toys or decoration. But this high-precision saw offers many more possibilities, from ornate artwork on wood, metal or plastic to making decorative and structural elements of furniture. The course explains different models of scroll bandsaws and an alternative scroll saw. Each participant works on different types of machine in order to test their differences by themselves and creates small practice pieces.
The course deals with the following machines:
  • Pégas Scroll Bandsaw (716062)
  • Pégas Scroll Saw 21"" (704762, 704763)
  • Pégas Scroll Saw 16"" (704764, 704768)
  • Hegner Scroll Saw Multicut-1 (704812, 704802)

Instructor

Jacob Aster

The carpenter learned his trade in a small joinery, where much emphasis was placed on hand and detail work. In his hobby joinery he makes furniture from solid wood, processes precious woods in combination with epoxy resin and turns filigree writing utensils and spice mills. His main commitment is to nature conservation and the construction of dwellings for species-appropriate beekeeping. Mr. Aster has been part of the Dictum team since 2016.
