Description
The »Bergmann« folding knife combines the craftsmanship traditions and modern innovations of the German Solingen region and is the ideal everyday companion. This slip joint knife is inspired by one of Otter's very first knives, the »Webermesser« (weaver's knife). The non-rustproof carbon steel blade made of C75, with its very fine tip, points to its original use in the textile and ribbon weaving industries of the Germen Bergisches Land region. The compact, rounded ebony handle, whose black colour is reminiscent of coal from the Ruhr area, complements the design. The copper structures in the Fat Carbon bolsters resemble formations in coal seams. These nods to the diverse roots of the region, from which Otter knives originate, come together in this completely handcrafted knife from the German »blade capital« of Solingen. Double bevel, hardness 57 HRC.

The Otter company was founded around 1840 in a small »Kotten« – a traditional water-powered grinding shop – near the Königsmühle at Solingen. It was named after the otters living on the banks there at that time. Even today, the pocket and fixed knives are carefully handcrafted in Solingen. The range includes knives for leisure, kitchen, garden and hunting, sold under the brand names Otter, Mercator and Rotwild.
