Course details

The aim of the course is to learn the old handicraft of wood carving. Carving a classic element is ideal for this.
You will learn each individual step of ornamental carving in both theory and practice. You will have the chance to put into practice what you have learned by making a profiled frame with carved wooden decorations.
  • Create a pencil sketch / initial design
  • Transfer the sketch to the wood
  • Correct use of the tools
  • Learning the individual carving techniques
  • Sharpening the tools

Instructor

Jörg Steinhauer

Whether he is building a surrealistic piece of furniture, carving a Gothic altar figure or making a commissioned work for the concept artist Jeff Koons – the qualified master cabinetmaker, master sculptor and handicrafts teacher explores the sculptural scope for design of wood material with enormous inquisitiveness and also exceeds the limit between art and handicraft. His courses are among the most popular courses offered at DICTUM!
