Folding Stool with Medieval Mortise-and-Tenon Joints

Course details

These pieces of furniture stand out for their simple yet ingenious joinery. The drawbored mortise-and-tenon joint - once common and now largely forgotten - can be made with the most basic tools and offers exceptional strength. This joint plays a central structural role in the piece you will build.

The design reinterprets medieval construction in a contemporary form. At the same time, you will learn the traditional methods used in the Middle Ages, enabling you to recreate similar pieces independently, using simple tools and working from original templates.
