Description
The Duster Coat, inspired by the classic rancher duster of the 1990s, is a timeless and functional garment appreciated for its durability and ruggedness. Originally developed as a dust coat, the history of the duster traces back to the pioneering era of North America and Australia, where it likely evolved from the coachman's coat or Carrick. Typically, the coat was cut one size larger to allow maximum freedom of movement - especially for riders, who could sit comfortably in the saddle thanks to the rear vent, while keeping their clothing protected from dust and dirt.
Made of durable Tin Cloth with a Dry Finish (298 g), the coat offers optimal protection against abrasion and punctures in dry conditions. As with the original duster coats of the 1990s, the double-layered cape collar over the shoulders and arms provides additional protection from wind and weather.
The front is equipped with Filson's signature four-pocket design, first used in the 1914-patented Cruiser Jacket. A corduroy collar, lined with soft corduroy fabric, provides additional comfort. The press stud fastening at the front ensures quick and secure closure, while the vent at the back hem guarantees optimum freedom of movement.
As typical for Filson, the coat is generously cut to comfortably fit over multiple layers. If you want a more body-hugging fit, we recommend ordering one size smaller.
