Description
Indestructible
Since 1900, more than 20 variations of this spokeshave model have been produced by Stanley and other tool manufacturers. Unlike the original version, our model is cast from stainless steel to permanently protect all handle areas from rust. This also prevents the plane body from breaking if it is accidently dropped from the workbench. The spokeshave is an essential tool wherever curved components are shaped — from boatbuilding and staircase making to bow making, chairmaking and furniture making. It is also indispensable for shaping surfboards.
- Stainless steel’s high thermal conductivity enables it to absorb body heat in seconds li>
- Handle recesses on the front and rear side near the blade allow for precise guidance
- Allows for comfortable planing of wide panels due to handle recesses under the handles
- Taper-ground cap for full-surface contact pressure without shavings clogging the tool - simplifies rework
DICTUM® Planes
We have developed our DICTUM plane series based on our Herdim planes. We have been making these planes for decades for our violin makers, who require the utmost precision and perfect workmanship. The solid, stress-relieved plane bodies made from cast steel* with precisely ground soles aligned at right angles to the sides, together with the minimum 3 mm thick blades made from SK4 steel (61 HRC) signify top quality. The planes are also available with a Japanese blade made of Blue Paper Steel (63 HRC) or O2 Waterjet (62 HRC). The blade adjuster allows for precise adjustments and the ergonomically shaped handles developed through tests as well as the polished cap irons provide a good grip. Handles made of walnut wood.
