Flat instead of pointed teeth: Endless hand-cut »Flat Cut« rasp teeth act like staggered plane blades – with sharp, straight cuts for even, gapless material removal. The width of all the teeth on a single rasp is approximately equivalent to 80 plane blades! The result: fast material removal, precise control and an extremely clean, almost planed-like surface. We recommend our rasps with flat teeth for fine material removal, making them ideal for precise detailing in sculpture, furniture making, model making, and instrument building.
DICTUM® Precision Rasps
DICTUM rasps are hand-cut rasps which are manufactured in countless worksteps by the »last of their craft«. The smoothing and shaping of the blank, cutting of the teeth, meticulous hardening, annealing and trueing are typical manufacturing steps of the handmade rasp. Up to 10 000 teeth, each one raised individually with a hammer and special pointed punch, ensure smooth results without becoming clogged with filings.
Blades made of case-hardened carbon steel: Case-hardening is the process of hardening the surface layer to over 62 HRC by carburising, while the core remains tough and elastic. This ensures a long service life and gives the tang additional strength.
