Description
Tonoko is a finer clay from specific regions and consists mainly of aluminium silicate. Unlike Jinoko clay, it is not baked and is mainly used for the final priming layers.
Clay is an important component of the priming coat in the Urushi covering techniques. The priming buffers the movement of the base material and allows an optimum bond with the subsequent lacquer layers.
