The 500 tables, of which photos were taken for this book, are more than simply practical pieces of furniture, they are inspiring pieces of art. Andrew Glasgow has chosen a wide range of styles and forms, pieces that show masterly woodworking but also present high-grade materials and aesthetic perceptions. Some of the most striking examples are the small square Transit Table by Boris Bally, made from recycled aluminium traffic signs, or the table by Stephen Whittlesys, for which driftwood from oak and chestnut were used.
