Description
Kumiko is a delicate and sophisticated Japanese art created by assembling small wooden pieces into beautiful patterns. The author offers step-by-step instructions for 10 patterns, with a level of detail that cannot be found in print elsewhere. These are traditionally used in shoji doors, but can also be used as accents in furniture making. In this book you will learn how to build and use the jigs you need, cut the wooden sticks that make up the patterns and make the necessary joints. Other Kumikos are presented as inspiration. In addition, the book offers hints and instructions on the design of Kumikos, the choice of fabric for backgrounds, the use of colour and the connection with the furniture design.
