In 1839, an English publishing house launched a small book with the title "The Joiner and Cabinet Maker". It had been written by an anonymous businessman and tells the fictious story of Thomas, a young man aged 13, who is apprenticed to a small carpenter’s workshop. The book tells about how the apprentice implements three small projects and thus it does not only give insights into the working life of the early 19th century, but it also explains detailed carpenter techniques and working methods of this time. The complete text of this fascinating story is in the original, unabridged and unedited. The footnotes by J. Moskowitz help understand the meaning of the story. Chris Schwarz rebuilds the three projects mentioned in the story about the carpenter Thomas - a box, a chest and a chest of drawers - and shows you step-by-step instructions for these techniques . Includes a DVD with 3 slide shows, with explanations by Chris Schwarz (for Mac or PC) and various SketchUp drawings for each of these three projects.various SketchUp drawings for each of these three projects.
