Siyotanka - An Indian Wooden Flute

Each participant makes an Indian flute based on the traditional two-part construction. You can...
Neu
Siyotanka means flute and comes from the North American Lakota Indians, a tribe of the Sioux. Because of its use for courtship and during healing ceremonies, the flute is also called love flute or healing flute. The difference to the European flute lies in the two-part system, which is often covered by an artfully designed block in an animal shape.
Each participant makes an Indian flute based on the traditional two-part construction. You can choose between a divided branch or two planed battens.
You will learn:
  • Hollowing out the branch or the battens
  • Preparing the labium
  • Gluing the two parts of the flute
  • Design of the flute
  • Drilling and tuning of the tone holes
  • Manufacturing the block

Afterwards, you can decorate the finished flute with brands. To complete the course, you will get to know the intuitive way of playing the Indian flute.
