Having grown up in a village in Siberia in a family of joiners, its obvious where Yana Lefler inherited her passion for wood. Now living in Germany, she found a way to combine her heritage with her lifelong interest in culture and history. Yana learned the joinery trade and, together with her husband, set up a birch-leather project. Having learned the craft and taught herself the ancient art of birch-leather processing, her desire is to get people excited about birch bark as a material, which is still used and loved in Russia today.Yana Lefler
