Making and Sharpening Saws

Find out everything about different types of high-quality Western saws, their range of use, and how to sharpen them. In this course, we will make a saw with a reinforced back for cutting along or across the grain (back saw, frame saw, tenon saw). We will cut teeth into a saw blade blank according to the intended size and purpose of the saw. Then we will set and sharpen the teeth. In doing so, we will look into all aspects of sharpening techniques and practice them so that you will have no difficulty in sharpening Western style handsaws yourself in the future. Finally, we will fit a handle suited to your requirements to the saw blade and complete it with a reinforced back. The result: a high-quality handsaw that is perfectly suited to your needs and purposes. You can bring along your own European saws for sharpening, too.
