Mokume Gane

In the Mokume Gane technique, which was developed in Japan in the 17th century, small, thin metal...
Jewellery made with the Mokume Gane technique are influenced by the Japanese "wabi-sabi" aesthetic ideal. This conforms to the philosophy of style and simplicity, spontaneity and uniqueness. The production process itself has a significant influence, both on the surface, structure and design as well as on the shape of the piece.
In the Mokume Gane technique, which was developed in Japan in the 17th century, small, thin metal sheets of different types of metal and different thickness, are fused together. In the course you will learn how to forge-weld silver and copper, structure the surface of the laminates, damascene the material, and make a piece of jewellery such as a brooch, pendant or ring.
