Hand-woven baskets made from natural materials like willow are not just eye-catching due to their rustic look, but also have practical uses around the home and garden.
Each course participant will braid their own round basket with handle holes using willow. In doing so, you will learn the four most important basic techniques: skein, 3- and 4-notch, layer (fence weave) and edge finishing. These techniques can be used for fruit baskets, craft or toy baskets, trays, etc. After this course, everyone will be able to use these skills to continue with other projects on their own, e.g. for fences, screens, and trellises. The possibilities are endless. Basket dimensions: diameter approx. 35 cm, height approx. 40 cm.

    Josef Eder

Josef Eder spent three years learning basket weaving in the 1950s and completed his training with an apprenticeship certificate. He then practised this craft for many years at a basket weaving company until - due to the change of time - this craft fell into oblivion. In his spare time, however, he never stopped basket weaving and even appeared on »Der Letzte seines Standes«, a German television programme presenting old trades. Today he makes his baskets mainly for museums and craft markets.
