Dutch Tool Chest with Christopher Schwarz

You will learn: Scribing and formatting the box components Cutting out the dovetail joints...
This traditional and ingenious tool box is a real space-saver that offers sufficient space for a complete set of tools. It can also be hung on the wall or placed on the workbench. A removable front - held in place by two sliding bolts - reveals plenty of storage space for e.g. moulding- and block planes and bulky tools.
The upper, tapered section of the box is opened by a flap. Various saws, for example, can be attached to the underside of this flap. Bench planes are placed in the box interior, while chisels, clamps, bradawls and other tools find space in a holding rail.
Dimensions approx. 700 x 650 x 300 mm.
You will learn:
  • Scribing and formatting the box components
  • Cutting out the dovetail joints
  • Preparing tongue-and-groove joints without the use of a plough plane
  • Protecting the box lid against warping
  • Handling moulding planes
  • Flush-planing the carcass connections
  • Attaching the box hinges
  • Depending on the work progress: working of inner compartments
  • Bring your own tools with you that you want to store in the tool box when complete.
