This float cuts on the pull stroke and is therefore ideally suited to removing material from the tenon shoulder without causing damage when reworking mortise and tenon cheeks. The conical blade allows for better visibility when working on edges.
Lie-Nielsen Floats
The term »float« for an extra-coarse single-cut file goes back to the 19th century. Formerly developed for making wooden plane bodies, they are now also used for surfaces that are difficult to work on in cabinetmaking. A hardness of 52 HRC allows resharpening by hand.
